Growing up Growing Down
I grew up in a world of ice morning cold milk
Till the milk snatcher came along.
I grew up in a world of comprehensive learning
Till the school thieve came along.
I grew up in a world of care from cradle to
grave
Till the tax dodger came along.
I grew up in a world were that old custom
You know that one, were you actually helped one
another.
Till the sharks and their feeding frenzy came
along.
The NHS was our crown jewel of civilization.
We had aspirations long before the lecture from
No 10.
What do you wanna do when you grow up son?
Football player, teacher, explorer, musician,
or writer perhaps
All gone for a song new aspiration is simple
To find a meal to get through the next day
Growing down now the tears on my face roll
along
Quiet though hush don’t tell them.
They may bottle your tears
And sell it for a sum
